This Modification will allow you to have your fog lights on with your
parking lights on. It will take about an hour, depending on how long it takes you take off
the center console. Please read this many times so you will become familiar with it. Before you start, be sure to have everything you need: Tap-in wire connector (right) I purchased the tap-in connectors at radio shack. If you are having trouble locating these, contact me at ProbeGT@mn.rr.com. |
These are the wires that you may want to disconnect. One of them just slides off, another you have to push a button to release it, and the other one is a light witch you twist to remove. |
Position the 2 wires in their spots according to the diagram. The orange wire should go through the blue connector. Do not cut the orange wire. The red wire with the black stripe should go past the metal connector, but not all the way through the blue connector. |
Use pliers (or anything else that squeezes) to push down the metal connector. This should make a connection between the 2 wires. Make sure that the metal connector cuts through the insulation. |
Now close the blue connector. It should snap right into place. Now you are almost done. Check to make sure that the wires are hooked up correctly. |
It is important to tape the connector closed. It could come loose if you do not do this. Add a few layers of tape to make sure it won't come loose. |
Before you put everything back together it would be a good idea to test it. Reconnect
the battery and turn off the fog lights. Turn on the parking lights and check to see that
the parking lights are working correctly. Turn on the fog lights and check that they are
working. If you have done it correctly, the fog lights will be able to function with any
other lights on(parking, headlights, highbeams) Turn all the lights off and put everything
back together. Remember to put the screws back in. Now you should have a sweet looking probe with only some minor work. |
