This Modification will allow you to have your fog lights on with your parking lights on. It will take about an hour, depending on how long it takes you take off the center console. Please read this many times so you will become familiar with it.

Before you start, be sure to have everything you need:

Tap-in wire connector (right)
Electrical tape
Wire cutters
Phillips screw driver

I purchased the tap-in connectors at radio shack. If you are having trouble locating these, contact me at ProbeGT@mn.rr.com.

This is what your car should look like before you start. Leave the key out of the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable. If you do not know how to do this then please do not continue. Put the car in neutral and the emergency brake on.

This was acomplished on a 1997 Ford Probe GT. It should work for all second generation Probes. I am not responsible for anything you do to your car.

The first thing you need to do is unscrew the shift knob. Do this by turning the knob counterclockwise. It will go around several times before it comes loose. Next, you need to take off the lower part of the center console. This is the part that surrounds the shifter and the emergency brake. It is held in place by 6 small clips. Do not force the console up too far because there are wires connected to it. To give yourself more room, you can disconnect these wires and place the console in a safe place.
These are the wires that you may want to disconnect. One of them just slides off, another you have to push a button to release it, and the other one is a light witch you twist to remove.
To release the upper part of the console you need to unscrew 2 screws from the bottom of the console, near the shifter. I have circled them in red for you. Put the screws somewhere that you will not lose them.
This is, by far, the hardest part of this mod. It took me over 20 minutes to remove the upper part of the console. The clip on the left side of the radio is the hardest. Please work slowly and be patient, you don't want to break the console. I believe there are 6 clips holding the upper console. The 2 bottom ones are not that difficult, but the 2 on either side of the radio are almost impossible. I found that grabbing on the part that is between the radio and the air controls helps. I would suggest leaving the one on the left side of the radio in until the other clips anre removed. After removing the one on the right side of the radio, remove the 2 on top. Then go for the last one, the hardest of all. After this, the rest is easy!

Here is a good picture of the clips

The red arrow indicates which wires you will be playing with. The orange plug goes to the fog light button. Unplug it, so you will have more room to work with. There are 5 wires connected to this plug, you will be playing with 2. Find the red wire with the black stripe. Look for the solid orange wire. You need to cut the red wire with the black stripe. Be careful of where you cut it. You should have about 1 inch sticking out from the bundle of wires going inside the dash. You need to wrap the end of the wire going back into the dashboard with electrical tape.

Position the 2 wires in their spots according to the diagram. The orange wire should go through the blue connector. Do not cut the orange wire. The red wire with the black stripe should go past the metal connector, but not all the way through the blue connector.
Use pliers (or anything else that squeezes) to push down the metal connector. This should make a connection between the 2 wires. Make sure that the metal connector cuts through the insulation.
Now close the blue connector. It should snap right into place. Now you are almost done. Check to make sure that the wires are hooked up correctly.
It is important to tape the connector closed. It could come loose if you do not do this. Add a few layers of tape to make sure it won't come loose.
Before you put everything back together it would be a good idea to test it. Reconnect the battery and turn off the fog lights. Turn on the parking lights and check to see that the parking lights are working correctly. Turn on the fog lights and check that they are working. If you have done it correctly, the fog lights will be able to function with any other lights on(parking, headlights, highbeams) Turn all the lights off and put everything back together. Remember to put the screws back in.
Now you should have a sweet looking probe with only some minor work.
